Most Monington and Weston pianos in the UK were made between 1920 to 1940 when they made about 20,000 pianos. Many baby grands were made which have a reasonable tone for the size but have "simplex" actions. As Monington and Weston specialised in baby grands, these were some of the best simplex action baby grands. They are mainly in walnut and mahogany.
The unique characteristic of many Monington and Weston pianos from about 1930 is their double iron frame, there is an extra iron frame at the back of the piano; this was an attempt to make them more stable and definitely makes them heavier.
This is a well looked after example of a once popular make of British Piano
